It may take a lifetime to build just to be crushed in a second
devote, develop, dissolve
there’s no more trace
of passion

Then it sure takes a long time to heal
to deal with distrust
to yield with denial

Yet some never got that luck
to mend a torn gut
to return to an undamaged faith
to be ready for another date
with whatever it is
simply as it could be
happiness
